The Mission Congregation of the Sisters servants of the Holy Spirit (SSpS), is a religious missionary congregation, founded by St Arnold Janssen, SVD in Steyl in Netherlands. We are a Religious Missionary Community of Women Disciples in an international Congregation, called to share in the universal mission of God in Jesus, in the dynamism of the Holy Spirit. The spirituality and charism springs forth from our founder\u2019s Motto: \u201cMay the Holy Triune God live in our hearts and in the hearts of all peoples.<\/p>

Mission is the origin and purpose of our Congregation. We express our missionary spirituality in today\u2019s context as SSpS The congregation is dedicated to spreading the Good through the different services rendered in the field of education, social work, health, pastoral ministry, media and social communications.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t

During the second half of the 19th century, there was a vigorous rebirth of mission consciousness in Europe. This new mission awareness was intimately entwined with the task Europe had assumed at that time, of being the torch bearer of human culture and faith.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t

SOCIETY OF THE DIVINE WORD (SVD) <\/h3><\/div>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

On 8th September 1875 he laid the foundations for the \u201cSociety of the Divine Word\u201d in Steyl, near the town of Venlo, a society of priests and brothers dedicated to spreading the faith. His mottos was: \u201c \u201cMay the holy triune God live in our hearts and in the hearts of all people!\u201d<\/p>

Although initially beset by great difficulties, the work grew rapidly. The foundations of a large mission house were laid, he opened an apostolic school to educate prospective missionaries in his spirit, and he established his own printing press to serve the developing apostolate of the press. The modest beginning developed into a religious institute that included priests and lay brothers. In 1879, the first missionaries were already sent to China. That was the beginning of annual mission departures to countries in all continents.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t

Divine Love Province, India South <\/h3><\/div>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

\"\"Divine Love Province, India South was first born in 1992 as the one Indian province with 2 regions of the Sisters Servants of the Holy Spirit at Bangalore in the southern part of India. As the years passed by it was strengthened by an increased number of Sisters and mission stations resulting the emergence of the three other provinces of India.<\/p>

Today the province consists of 19 communities spread in 6 southern states, Kerala, Karnataka, Tamilnadu, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh and Maharashtra, with a total no of 112 members belonging to 11 different states of India with a unique language and culture.<\/p>

Responding to the needs of the time, the province has reached out the needy through various ministries.<\/p>

EDUCATION: The province imparts formal and non-formal education through 5 different schools set up in the remotest villages brightening the lives of 5900 students. Many SSpS sisters work in collaboration with diocesan schools and lay organizations.<\/span><\/p>

HEALTH CARE: A 300 bed multispecialty hospital with a nursing institute providing diploma and graduate nursing training and a 30 bed rural hospital extending health care.<\/span><\/p>

Under the banner of JPIC the programs include,<\/p>

  • Education and Integral Development of Girl Children<\/li>
  • Women Empowerment programs for Women Religious<\/li>
  • Domestic Workers \/ Women in villages<\/li>
  • Hostel for Young College Women<\/li>
  • Counselling and Guidance<\/li>
  • Legal Aid<\/li>
  • Prison Ministry<\/li>
  • Ministry with the Differently Abled<\/li>
  • Caring for the Elderly<\/li><\/ul>

    Through NETWORKING AND COLLABORATION with<\/p>

    • CWC, Other NGOS, DIOCESE, National Women\u2019s Movement, CRI,CHAI, the province could mutually share its resources.<\/li><\/ul>

      In view of CARING FOR THE MOTHER EARTH the province has initiated projects like,<\/p>

      • Waste Management,Solar Installation,Bio Gas, No USE of Plastic in communities and Institutions,Planting the Trees.<\/li><\/ul>

        The PASTORAL activities include,<\/p>

        • Family visits and Counselling<\/li>
        • SCC Meetings<\/li>
        • Catechesis, Faith Formation, Liturgy Animation and preparation for Sacraments<\/li>
